About Me

Hi, my name is Scott. I am a Gaffer and owner operator at SLG. I have been in the business for many years, working on small to large features, reality TV, commercials, new media, internet, docs, etc. My grip/electric crew is fun and easy to work with. We will work hard and smart to get your day done and hopefully under budget. Not only do we provide a great service, but the talk sometimes circles around to the Bigfoot phenomenon. I have been interested in Bigfoot since I was a boy. The mysteries of the unknown always intrigued me. I am always open to your experiences and conversations. I have had people drive up to me in parking lots and on film/video sets to tell me their stories.

The Sasquatch Story

Bigfoot
I grew up in Oregon, raised in Pendleton and mostly in The Dalles, the end of the old Oregon Trail. Sasquatch or Bigfoot has been part of Native American culture for hundreds, if not thousands of Years, with stories of the elusive creatures handed down from generation to generation. Early explorers and settlers had their own run-ins with these unpredictable beings. The Bigfoot legend captured my attention early on. During my impressionable youth, Peter Byrne, one of the original four horsemen of Bigfoot research, set up a research area in the gorge encompassing The Dalles, Hood River, and Mt.Hood. Mr. Byrne opened up a Bigfoot interpretive center next to the famed Spooky's Pizza parlor at the west end of The Dalles. He always took time to show us kids the information and artifacts. Many sightings were reported during this time around The Dalles, Wasco County, and Hood River County. The hypothesis was that west of The Dalles was the narrowest part of the Columbia River for miles, and they used this as a crossing point on their north-south migrational routes. One sighting west of The Dalles was witnessed by many people on an Amtrak Passenger train. I had many strange experiences while playing or fishing at Chenoweth Creek. Large boulders are being moved on the other side of large bushes, rocks are being thrown our way, and it's eerily quiet, hair standing up on your neck, spookiness. I didn't know what to think of this until I started reading others' experiences on the internet. Years later, while Gaffing "Wild," I ran into an old neighbor who rode horses at the creek. I asked her if there were any weird happenings. She told me of a few, one being a personal sighting. While riding her horse, she noticed a dark creature squatting down, looking into the creek. It looked up at her, stood up, then ran up the hill on two legs, stopped behind a large boulder, and stood to peek over the boulder at her. She estimated the boulder to be at least 6' tall, making the creature much taller. My most memorable encounter was at a lake in remote British Columbia. It was a cool, mostly clear day. The lake was oval-shaped, and the road access side of the lake was clear-cut. I was there fishing with my Dad and younger brother. We parked and launched the rowboat. The fish were biting, and we were doing well. We started hearing faint calls (yells) and screams in the distant forest. It was noticeable but not alarming. After hearing these distant noises for a short while, a powerful, unnatural, vibrating scream pierced the air with authoritative purpose. Fishing rods flying, mouths agape, and eyes wide open, we all looked at each other in shock, wondering what made this frightening noise and what to do. I uttered the only words that seemed plausible, "It's Bigfoot. My dad rowed us back to the shore, and we threw our gear into the '69 Chevelle station wagon. Those things wanted us out of there, fast. My brother and I couldn't wait to get out of there, too. I positioned myself on the passenger's side floor and my brother on the rear seat floor. My dad decided to make what he thought were Bigfoot calls. NOPE! Didn't help. There had to be more than 1. The screams/yells were coming from multiple directions. Gone. 80-90% of people who have experiences do not report them. I am always willing to listen. I have had many tell me of their experiences. My goal is to relay others' experiences on this website. Cheers,
